DMR’s Bold New Vision for Manchester

For half a century, the David M Robinson showroom on Manchester’s storied St Ann’s Square has been a discreet destination for those in search of exceptional watches and jewellery. Now, the family-owned retailer is embarking on its most ambitious project to date there, a transformation that will more than double the space and redefine luxury retail in the North West.

Scheduled to begin in 2026, the redevelopment will see the showroom grow from 5,000 to over 13,000 square feet. This significant investment underscores DMR’s long-term commitment to Manchester. The expanded space is designed to be a journey of discovery, featuring intimate, beautifully appointed areas for private consultation and hosting. It is a physical manifestation of the brand’s philosophy – that acquiring a timeless piece should be an experience in itself.

Hannah Williams, the Manchester Showroom Director, who understands the legacy of this location intimately, shares the team’s vision. “Having proudly served clients from this location for 50 years, this expansion further enables us to offer an even more comprehensive and personalised in-store client experience. The expanded showroom will provide an elevated setting to showcase both luxury watch brand Rolex, and our own DMR jewellery collections, celebrating our craftsmanship and heritage.”

The enhanced environment will allow for a substantial increase in Rolex space and an elevated display of fine jewellery. Notably, the expansion will also introduce the Rolex Certified Pre-Owned (RCPO) programme to the Manchester showroom, alongside bespoke jewellery services and high jewellery collections. It is a move designed to create a compelling, full-spectrum destination for both devoted clients and new admirers.

For Managing Director John Robinson, this project is about more than just square footage. “This innovative expansion marks a significant milestone for DMR by allowing us to enhance the luxury experience we offer our clients alongside our long-standing partners, Rolex,” he says. “By creating an exceptional new environment dedicated to fine watchmaking and jewellery, we are investing not only in our offering within the Northwest, but in the relationships that define our brand.”

He adds a poignant reflection on the setting itself. “We continue to believe in cities, architecture and the role they play in bringing people together.”

This belief is woven into the fabric of the project. The new showroom, set to complete in 2027, aims to be a cornerstone of St Ann’s Square, a place where community, craftsmanship, and city life intersect. For Hannah Williams and her team, it is the next step in a lasting relationship with the city. “From myself and my team, I look forward to welcoming our existing and new clients into this new space and sharing this exciting next chapter with them.”

Founded in 1969, DMR remains an independent, family-owned business with showrooms from Liverpool ONE to London. This Manchester expansion is a bold statement of confidence in the city’s future, ensuring it will remain a home for those who appreciate the finer things, delivered with an unparalleled personal touch for decades to come.
