UK’s First Floating Sauna Lands

Britain’s first floating sauna, Wyld Sauna, opens in Liverpool this November. Combining Nordic tradition with stunning city views, Wyld offers a luxurious escape with hot-cold therapy, ice baths, and direct dock access.

Picture this – you’re cosying up in a luxurious sauna as you float on the waters at Liverpool’s Princes Dock, soaking in the warmth and breathtaking city views before cooling off with a plunge into the open water. This dream is now a reality with the opening of Wyld Sauna, the UK’s first-ever floating public sauna, which launches on Saturday 23rd November. Bookings go live Friday 8th November, so get ready to make your wellness goals a little wilder!

Wyld Sauna isn’t your typical wellness retreat. Co-founders Jon Miller and Tom Berendsen, both long-time sauna lovers, have created a space that blends the serenity of nature with the energy of Liverpool’s waterfront. Expect modern touches like salt-infused showers, Dyson hair dryers in luxurious changing rooms and direct dock access for that exhilarating post-sauna dip.

“We’ve always believed in the power of saunas – not just for physical health, but for building community and creating moments of calm in our busy lives,” says Jon. “Wyld is our way of making that experience accessible to as many people as possible. Our mission is to bring the best of the Nordic sauna tradition to Liverpool, where anyone can come, unwind, and reconnect—whether it’s their first sauna or their hundredth.”

Wyld’s facilities redefine sauna luxury. Built from Thermal Alder, the sauna is naturally antimicrobial, chemical-free and crafted with eco-friendliness in mind. Guests have access to four ice baths, two cold waterfall showers and heated outdoor showers, offering a full hot-cold therapy experience. With each visit, guests are encouraged to carve their own experience – whether by basking in the heat, diving into the cold, or both.

For Tom, a lifelong sauna enthusiast, Wyld represents his Dutch heritage and family sauna traditions. “Princes Dock is the perfect setting for Wyld. Being on the water adds another layer to the experience, with the city skyline on one side and the calm of the dock on the other. It’s a place where nature and urban life meet, which is exactly what Wyld is all about. We’re very excited to be opening the UK’s first floating sauna, right here in the heart of this beautiful city that’s steeped in heritage and culture,” he explains.

Certified by the British Sauna Society, Wyld aims to introduce more people to the benefits of traditional sauna culture. In celebration of the launch, exclusive ‘Wyld Cards’ are available for early birds who sign up, allowing locals to make Wyld a regular part of their wellness routine. And, as a special offer, early sign-ups can enjoy a chance to attend the Early Bird Preview days on 23rd and 24th November.

Princes Dock, already a popular spot for Liverpool’s open-water swimming community, has been optimised with oxygen pumps and regular testing to ensure a safe plunge. Wyld will also have lifeguards on site, making it a welcoming space for both seasoned sauna-goers and beginners.

So are you ready to refresh, reconnect and relax? Bookings open on 8th November, so secure your spot via Wyld’s online bookings system. Whether you’re looking to unwind solo, meet friends for a unique experience, or simply find a slice of peace in the city, Wyld Sauna is ready to welcome you.
