The Style of Sweet Science: British Vintage Boxing
British Vintage Boxing offers a pound-for-pound, premium spin on old-school, sweet science style
Words by Will Halbert
There’s always been an intersection between the grit of old-school gym gear and the ruggedness of age-old militaria; a Venn Diagram whose overlapping section is, you guessed it, menswear. Unsurprisingly, British Vintage Boxing is navigating that stylistic convergence with the grace, pace, and confidence of a prizefighter turned pro. That’s especially true of the brand’s latest Queensbury 1963 collection – which we happened to go toe-to-toe with not so long ago. Read on to get the lowdown on our favourite pieces.
The Queensbury 1963 Camo Sweatshirt
BVB’s camo sweatshirt sees the brand blend British military heritage with its boxing DNA to create a unique piece of gym-ready streetwear. The DPM (disruptive pattern material) camo – itself a throwback to the standard-issue RAF camo of yesteryear – is pigment printed. The result is a classic sweater that will only get better with age as the print fades and chips over time.
These classic design cues are backed up by an equally classic, cut-no-corners approach to construction. Crafted from 100% cotton loopback fabric, the sweatshirt is bolstered with reinforced stitching and bears all the hallmarks of a sweatshirt built to go the distance. Trust us, a few months of solid wear and this bad boy’ll boast some seriously vintaged, Rocky-like ruggedness.
Queensbury Cargo Jogging Pants
Honestly, this is the utilitarian mash-up you never knew you needed. The cargo jogger shoots for maximum functionality with the addition of large flap pockets at either thigh. Originally designed for British forces to hold maps, field dressings, and other essential items, they’re just as handy for holding your car keys, iPhones and, I don’t know, lip balm? You do you, buddy.
Sporting a British Vintage Boxing logo print on the front, an embroidered BVB crown on the reverse, and made from a super-soft, brushed-back grey marl fabric, this is a sportswear classic that’s as perfect for the morning roadwork as it is for the cheeky fry up that comes after.
